An English In Kentucky

September 10th 2010    Tim Candler

There is a small gas engine in the barn that goes back to the early nineties.  And there is a mechanism that I suppose is best explained as the part that makes a nodding donkey nod.  Both are remarkably heavy.  And every now and then I move them from one side of the barn to the other.

In answer to the question why, the reply relates to those day dreams where parts join, and a mind says,  "how neat that would be."   But in all these years the body has failed to chase this dream of a mechanical thing that would move and make a great deal of noise for no apparent purpose.

I could say I have been engaged in more useful activities.  But this I think would be quite false.
