An English In Kentucky

August 5th  2011    Tim Candler

If I lie on my right side I can hear a lonely frog serenade the night from his tree outside.  He begins around nine in the evening and continues past midnight.  If I lie on my left side, I can't hear much at all, but nor can I sleep because my left side is cantankerous and ornery and stubborn and for a long time has blamed me for history.

Either I sharpen the chain saw and turn ornamentals into firewood, or I go quietly into the night with sound location equipment and shotguns.  An over reaction is inevitable, because I am more like the Little Brown Bat who needs twenty hours of sleep a day than I am like the Elephant who needs only three.
