An English In Kentucky

Saturday January 5th 2013    Tim Candler

I've decided that "Walking John" should not be substituted for "Walking Stewart."  And I have decided this because I do not think the man himself would approve of such Cavalier-ness, and carelessness toward his name.  So I am just going to have to learn to live with the word "Stewart" and try to remember that  "Stewart" is just a name.

But I would like to tell John Walking Stewart that I feel very able to refer to at least one of his books simply as "Travels....".  The full title is "Travels over the most interesting parts of the world."  "Travels...." is I think, now that Walking Stewart has been dead these past one hundred and ninety years, a brevity he would have no problem with.
