I begin to like the idea that language emerges
in creatures through their emotions. The fortunate Oak Tree says
hardly a word. Ducks can quack out their irritation, of course.
And I am pretty certain that Egg Plants are mostly sullen.
My own species is well supplied by
emotions, and consequently we are the Olympiads of natter, much of our time
spent voicing emotions., if not out loud then as a sort of background
